Senator Barack Obama is now President-Elect Barack Obama and he has won the presidency thanks to huge support from the African-American community, as those voters voted for him nearly 90% in a good many districts. Now he is going to move into the White House thanks to their help.

There's only one problem, the White House was built by Black slaves, so shouldn't Barack Obama refuse to live there and support the black community that helped get him elected? What is Barack Obama going to do about this dilemma?
 
Isn't it a slap in the face to African-Americans to move into the White House that was built by Black slaves without commenting on that fact or taking a stand for what he believes in and what he told voters he stood for? What can he do to remedy this situation? Could he paint the White House "Black" to show the black voters that things have really changed?
 
If he moves into the White House and ditches his roots, will this be seen as a man who is turned his back on the black community, a community that gave him his first start in politics? After all, Barack Obama is an African-American, as he has stated and he sees himself as an African-American as per his writings in his memoirs and books.
 
So this is a very good test for President-Elect Barack Obama, how will he handle the PR that surrounds such a huge controversy? Perhaps, it is time for him to mend the fence between whites and blacks and comment on this historic occasion and make mention of the fact that the White House was built by Black slaves.
 
Perhaps we can say that we now share the White House with all citizens and maybe in that regard he can live in the White House without breaking his commitment to the African American community. The question is will Barack Obama make mention of this issue and do the right thing? Please think about this.

If you have a black fingernail, you may be wondering whether it is caused by a fungal infection under the nail. This may well be the case, however, other things can cause a nail to turn black, so it's important to consider other possibilities and perhaps consult your doctor before jumping to conclusions.

Fungal infection of fingernails and toenails is called onychomycosis. Only a few species of fungus are capable of invading human hair and nails - they often gain access through a break in the skin or under the nail at the tip of the finger or toe. Because they derive their nutrients from the protein found in human nails and dead skin cells, these fungi do not invade healthy tissue. Instead, they invade the matrix of the nail itself and grow there, causing a black fingernail or toenail.

Onychomycosis is quite common: more than ten percent of the North American population will experience a fungal nail infection at some time in their lives: it is probably the most common cause of nail abnormalities in the general population, however, there are other causes. A blow to the affected nail is the most obvious alternative. When a nail or the root of a nail is struck so that blood vessels are broken and a bruise forms under the nail, a black area develops that takes a very long time to clear up. Depending on the severity of the bleeding, the whole nail or only part of the nail will be affected. Nails grow very slowly and bruises are similarly slow to disappear even after soreness subsides - a black nail that persists long after the initial injury is no cause for alarm. It will grow out in time.

Nail injuries are, however, the route of entry for other organism that can either live in and under the nail without causing a problem or set up an infection in exposed tissue. Some species of bacteria are known to colonize spaces in nail beds without causing infection. Some of these bacteria produce color changes, though shades of green are more typical than black. The bacterial colonies can persist for long periods of time without causing noticeable inflammation. Various species of yeast can set up severe and progressive infections of the nail bed and tissues around the nail, however these infections usually do not cause a black fingernail, and are generally severe enough that the need for medical attention is obvious. Yeast infections are, in fact, another form of onychomycosis.

If you have not suffered a nail injury and your black fingernail is slowly progressing and causing the nail to become thick, deformed, and crumbly, you may have true onychomycosis. Typically, infected nails are white, yellow, brown or black, and variations on these shades may be present. The infection often starts on a toenail and progresses to other toes and fingers, and is very resistant to treatment. If you suspect you have a fungal nail infection, make an appointment with your physician for a proper diagnosis.

The Black Man and Caucasian Woman

Susan Crain Bakos expresses the sentiments that some Caucasian women feel about favoring African American men for intimacy in her article titled "A White Woman Explains Why She Prefers Black Men" on the New York Press web site posted Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Even though this article is five years old, she makes some valid points in the context of her argument for preferring black men.

The sensation of the skin is the premise of her argument abutted by the experience of loneliness by more middle-aged Caucasian women. She implies that as Caucasian women age, they are left with limited choices for intimate fulfillment through becoming a Cougar, dating inter-racially, or remaining alone due to the lack of interest by white males in their peer-group.

There is some validity in her theory, but the assumption is that African American men would some-how appreciate a Caucasian woman as a lover for just being Caucasian. This is a common mistake that many women in this situation make because it would be similar to driving a high-end luxury car with over 200,000 miles and trying to sell it for a profit to a working-class person evolving into the lower middle-class. The philosophy is that race would exempt Caucasian women from the same standards set by African American men for all eligible women.

It is not a distant reality for Caucasian women with this template mind-set to find themselves being under-appreciated by black men. The primary reason for this lack of appreciation has more to do with the perceived associated value of them compared to black women. In essence, she settles for a black man and he sees the white woman as a step up the social ladder in respect to status. This approach probably worked in the 1940's that attracted more educated and well-rounded African American men. Today, some African American men are not impressed by skin-color alone, and some of these women in their mid-forties or older may find themselves going down both the age and economic scales in the African American community to find these men.

Basing one's approach to a certain group or type of people on specific characteristics can be classified more as a fetish. The social stereo-type of the black man lusting after the older white woman may exists in some reaches of society, but these women find themselves in competition with younger and more exotic women of all ages.

There are some African-American men who will not date Caucasian women who have dated a black man before. The rationale is that these women commonly fall into the category of trying to identify culturally with slang and other mannerisms. Many of these guys date Caucasian women to escape the stereo-types and realities that is readily associated with being black. They prefer fresh Caucasian women or those who have never dated outside their race to ensure that they are getting the woman of choice in true cultural form.

Women who are into black men as a fetish may have a certain preference in tone and contrast against their skin. Also, these women are oblivious about the social cost of being with a black man in that they are devalued in some way by main-stream society. Arrogant women may find it harder to attract some of the more educated and well-rounded black men.

The fundamental problem that people ignore before entering into a relationship is the reason why they are together. Sex, companionship, and lust are all valid reasons with their own merits, but there is another, the position of power. Some Caucasian women date black men for the purpose of humiliating African-American women, while others may be sincere about their commitment to the individual instead of his race or ethnicity.

The woman that genuinely falls in love with the person rarely has a set agenda beyond the scope of pursuing a relationship. It should also be noted that these women who are sincere are devoutly committed to the relationship and therefore become viable partners. The aesthetic make-up of the couple is a benefit to these women long after their emotional requirements are met. In the case of those women with the stereo-typical fetishes associated with black men are more important than the person. In essence the bed-room experience sought is more important than the human-being. A sense of exploitation exists for both parties.

The question that both African American men and Caucasian women must answer before embarking on a relationship as any is "What is the purpose of it?". Is the relationship based on a sexual curiosity, fetish, love, lust, or an agenda to be met.
